Congratulations to Captain Neelam Pandey, the second woman seafarer to achieve the rank of Master at Fleet Management Limited. The promotion reflects crucial progress in Fleet Management’s efforts to increase female representation in its ranks. The announcement closely follows the promotion of Captain Deepti Singh who took command in August 2024.

Captain Pandey encourages her fellow women seafarers to seize opportunities and make their mark in the maritime industry: “I believe this promotion to Master is ‘one small step in maritime, one giant leap for womankind.’ I am proud to wear the Master’s epaulettes. I hope my story will inspire many more women to pursue careers in maritime and encourage those already in the field to strive for success.”

A graduate of the renowned Training Ship Rahman (TSR) in Navi Mumbai, Captain Pandey has built a career on bulk carriers and Pure Car and Truck Carriers.

Mike Bradshaw, Fleet's Cyprus Country Director, expressed his pride in Captain Pandey's achievement: “It gives me immense pride to address Ms. Neelam Pandey as Captain Pandey. The promotion recognises her proven expertise and leadership skills and she is a strong asset to our fleet. We hope her promotion inspires many more women to pursue careers in the maritime field.”

“Congratulations, Captain Pandey, on this well-deserved achievement. The recent additions to our highest rank of command reflect the focus that Fleet Management has placed on increasing diversity and inclusion, and we are proud to have a growing cohort of talented women leaders,” said Captain Soma, Executive Director of Fleet’s Personnel Department.

As the world’s second-largest ship management company, Fleet Management is committed to fostering a diverse base of seafarers and has set targets to encourage more women to pursue a career at sea. The company has set a 10% yearly intake of women seafarers and continues to invest in the professional development, safety, and well-being of women seafarers.
