Hong Kong – January 17, 2025 – Fleet Management Limited (“Fleet” or the “Company”), a part of The Caravel Group Limited, was awarded the prestigious Hong Kong Ship Manager 2024 award at the Mission to Seafarers’ Maritime Charity Dinner in Hong Kong on January 16, 2025.
Now in its 12th year, the annual survey of global seafarers represents an important pulse check on seafarers’ experiences of safety practices, crew welfare, physical and mental wellbeing, onboard facilities, and corporate efforts to support life onboard.
Organised by The Mission to Seafarers’ Hong Kong branch, the survey invited seafarers onboard vessels owned or managed by Hong Kong entities, or Hong Kong flagged ships, to participate. The ‘Hong Kong Best Ship Manager’ category is awarded to the participating company with the highest score from seafarers in the survey results. Fleet Management has been awarded the coveted title six times in the last seven years of the survey.
Collecting the award on behalf of Fleet Management, Captain Siddhartha Gopalkrishna, General Manager for Manning, said: “First, a big thank you to all seafarers, the lifeblood of our industry. Your support and dedication keep the global economy running smoothly. As we grow, our commitment to ensuring the welfare and wellbeing of our crews remains stronger than ever. Our seafarers are a valued part of our expanding team and we take immense pride in this accolade and achievement.”
Captain Somasundar Nair, Executive Director of the Fleet Personnel Department, said: “This award matters to us because it is not decided by a panel of judges, it is decided by seafarers so this is the highest praise. We will look at the findings of the Satisfaction Survey intently to see what we can learn so that Fleet Management and the broader industry continues to improve.”
The results are vetted by The Sailors Home and Mission to Seafarers. Fleet Management extends a heartfelt thank you to Reverend Canon Stephen Miller and the worldwide team of employees and volunteers at Mission to Seafarers for their exceptional work and dedication to caring for seafarers. Fleet Management will continue to work in close partnership with charities and the industry to advance this shared mission.
