Group Chief Operating Officer, The Caravel Group; Chairman, Hong Kong Shipowners Association
Angad Banga has been the Chief Operating Officer of The Caravel Group since 2016, where he oversees key areas including Asset Management, Investment, Finance, and Operations. He joined as Executive Director at its inception in 2013, and has played an integral role in shaping the company’s business growth strategy. Angad is also a key member of the Group’s Management, Investment, Risk, and Credit Committees, where he helps steer the Group’s strategic initiatives.
Angad serves as Executive Director of Fleet Management. His leadership has been pivotal in guiding Fleet’s expansion and solidifying its reputation for excellence in the maritime industry. Angad’s commitment to the industry is further demonstrated through his position as Chairman of the Hong Kong Shipowners Association (HKSOA), one of the world’s largest shipowner associations. Under his leadership, HKSOA has continued to advocate for the advancement and digitalisation of the maritime sector.
Angad was previously a Principal at KKR, where he focused on leveraged buyouts across the Asia-Pacific region. He also led the Asian Leveraged Finance business for KKR Capital Markets Asia, financing some of the most complex private equity acquisitions in the region. Angad began his career at J.P. Morgan in Hong Kong, working as an Investment Banking Analyst. He holds a BA with Honours in Economics from Dartmouth College and has served on various advisory boards at the institution.
In recognition of his contributions to public service and the community of Hong Kong, Angad was appointed a Justice of the Peace (JP) in July 2024. He is also a strong advocate for corporate social responsibility, having spearheaded initiatives such as the partnership between Cricket Hong Kong and The Caravel Foundation to support youth cricket programmes in Hong Kong.
